Toyoda Gosei’s hydrogen tank is set to be incorporated into a passenger ship.

Toyota Gosei’s advanced high-pressure hydrogen tanks are now being integrated into a passenger ship powered by a blend of hydrogen and other eco-friendly energy sources. These sizable hydrogen tanks feature cutting-edge storage technology developed jointly by Toyoda Gosei and Toyota Motor Corporation, originally designed for the MIRAI fuel cell vehicle and previously utilized primarily in trucks and commercial vehicles.

This latest application involves the installation of hydrogen storage modules produced by Toyota Motor, which amalgamate multiple large tanks. This design enables the efficient and convenient storage and transportation of substantial quantities of hydrogen. The vessel utilizing this technology is operated by MOTENA-Sea, a company backed by investments from Mitsui OSK Lines and other entities.

The adoption of hydrogen holds immense promise across various modes of transportation, spanning from cars to motorcycles, ships, and railways. By providing tanks and modules tailored to meet the onboard hydrogen requirements of diverse transportation modes, Toyoda Gosei remains committed to advancing the widespread use of hydrogen across society.
